At Anderson’s Veterinary Hospitals, we believe in serving you, your pet and our community. We are a young, modern, innovative team that wants every experience that you and your pet have with us to be relaxed, refreshing, personal and professional. We don’t have cold stainless steel examination tables, white lab coats and impersonal receptionists. We believe in providing high quality care in a modern, clean environment. We take pride, not only in our wide range of services, but also in our desire to respond to the needs of pets and their owners.
We value the trust that you place in us. That is why we pledge ourselves to an ambitious programme of continuing education to constantly develop new skills and make available to you the latest developments in pet care. Ours is a progressive modern approach to medical care always open to new and more effective techniques.
Apart from being open 7 days of the week (because Saturday and Sunday aren’t any different in the animal world) and open until 7.00 pm every week night, I have always wanted to make our hospitals the friendliest, nicest places for you to visit and provide the most caring, top surgical and medical facilities in Palmerston North (along with some nice background music and modern relaxed décor).
My commitments to you have been and will always be:- You’ll see the same friendly vet of your choice every time you visit.
- We will make every effort to be on time as we value your time.
- You will be informed of any likely cost and outcome of treatments so that there are no nasty surprises.
- You will always receive 7 Day service at times convenient to you
- AND you will be guaranteed 7 day, 24 hour, emergency care with no answer phones to deal with.

The hospital was my dream and to be able to provide something a little different that had all the good points from all the practices I have worked in.
I’ve been lucky with the path from a young boy cleaning out kennels after school at the local vet practice to running this hospital. I still love my career and get to smile with people and their furry friends every day and hope that myself and the team make every experience at the hospital a good one.
When I get home there are two black cats (Millie & Max), two woolly rabbits (Hoppy & Easter), two fish (hotdog & chips), two awesome kids that fill my life (Lachlan & Greer) and a long suffering Kim who never sees me. | | Vicky
My name is Vicky Charman. I have a BVSc and BSc. After graduation I worked as a Veterinarian in Bendigo, Australia in a companion animal clinic. But I missed home too much, so I moved back to New Zealand where I decided to work in a mixed animal practice. I went to Wairoa were I worked mainly with farm dogs, sheep, Beef cattle and Horses. From there I moved to Opunake where I worked with companion animals and Dairy Cows. I met my husband in Opunake and we have moved to Palmerston North so I can continue my career with companion animals which is the field of work that I particularly enjoy.
My interests include music, painting, netball and swimming. I am pleased to be back in Palmerston North and I am looking forward to getting to know the clients and their pets at Anderson's Veterinary Hospitals. | | Carley
I have lived in the Manawatu most of my life. In between my grandparents farm and my mums small lifestyle block in Kiwitea I have had my fair share of animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and ducks to name a few. I have always loved animals and caring for them, so what better job could I have other than a Vet nurse. I did my 2 year diploma at UCOL then off I went to Australia for several months and experienced many different animals in a Vet clinic before coming back home to work with this lovely bunch of people at Andersons. | | Holly
Yep, I have the same surname but no I'm not related - phew. I have a two year diploma in Veterinary Nursing form UCOL. Having lived in Palmie almost all my life (apart from being born in Melbourne - the land of dunnas and thongs) I thought I would try the Tourist capital of the North Island - Rotorua. While there I worked with North Island brown Kiwi and then moved on to be a Vet Nurse. After a year I was back in Palmie and working at Andersons which I love. I have always had animals, cats, dogs, rabbits and fish are just a few on the long list. At the moment I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback , Ella and two cats Lulu and Rubin. | | Kara
Hi, I'm Kara. I was born in East Coast Bays, Auckland where I was brought up camping, surfing, tramping, and looking after all sorts of animals. I have been working in the Veterinary industry for 3 years now and have always been a lover of animals, nature, animal photography, wildlife and the beach. Recently I have gained a certificate in Animal Care, and am working towards a diploma in veterinary Nursing. Prior to settling in Palmerston North with my partner I travelled around beautiful New Zealand for a year including living in Arrowtown and Nelson. My extended family includes Benson and Willow, my two cats and I'm sure I will have a puppy soon as well. I'm stoked to be working with the amazing team at Andersons and you'll find me nursing out the back, chatting to customers out the front, or running puppy preschool. Life is fun and I'm looking forward to meeting you and your amazing pets soon. | | Lisa
Hi I'm Lisa. I was born and lived in the wild West Auckland where I maintained a small army of pets that included dogs, cats, horses, fish and budgies. Ever since I was young I've wanted to work with animals. After moving to Palmy 5 years ago and completing a BSc in animal science and a Veterinay Nursing Diploma, through Massey University, I am now living my dream here at Anderson's. At home lives my beloved young cat, Inca and in Auckland, my beautiful horse, Shamrock, who awaits the chance to join me here in Palmy. When I'm not at the hospital, I enjoy the company of my friends, snowboarding, going to the gym and I'm hoping to learn how to surf! (if the water ever gets warm!). | | Sarah
I have grown up on a farm in the south island and moved up to the Hawkes Bay seven years ago. I gained my love for animals by working on my parent's farm and working in the local Veterinary clinics in school holidays. I moved to Palmerston North to become a Veterinary Nurse and was lucky enough to have Anderson's to take me under their wing and become a member of their fantastic team.
I am a very outgoing bubbly person and have a certificate in Veterinary nursing and I am currently doing the diploma in Veterinary nursing through Otago Polytechnic. I have previously done a certificate in Air New Zealand customer service training, which was an amazing course and could have been a flight attendant(watch out for my hand signals for the exit doors!) but I always knew that I was meant to be in the Veterinary industry. I have two Jack Russell's (Beethoven and Chase) that believe they are big dogs and two black cats (Digbee and Minx) which control the house. So look out for me buzzing around the hospital and making everyone smile - every day is a great day! Have fun from the energiser bunny! |
